LAS VEGAS, NV — On November 16, 2024, Healthy Fil-Am Nayon marked its official launch at Cafe De Manila with an evening filled with celebration, inspiration, and a strong sense of purpose. The launch event gathered a vibrant crowd, including numerous Filipino American community leaders and advocates, all unified by one mission: to empower Fil-Ams toward a healthier, more holistic lifestyle.
The organization was founded on the belief that health is more than just the absence of illness—it’s a way of life. With many Filipino Americans being predisposed to chronic health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease due to cultural diets and sedentary habits, Healthy Fil-Am Nayon aims to ignite a cultural shift through education, outreach, and lifestyle-based wellness initiatives.
The evening was peppered with heartfelt moments, none more powerful than an anecdote shared by President Elizabeth de Leon-Gamboa. Drawing from personal insight, she passionately encouraged guests to reflect on their daily habits and rally behind the organization’s mission. “We owe it to ourselves and our families to take care of our bodies, our minds, and each other,” she said, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.
In a colorful and playful twist, some attendees arrived dressed as beloved fictional heroes—adding flair to the occasion and symbolizing the everyday heroes within each community member striving for better health.
